Kevin Costner and wife of nearly 19 years begin divorce

Kevin Costner’s and his wife of nearly 19 years, Christine Baumgartner, are divorcing. She filed for divorce on Monday, May 1, citing “irreconcilable differences” with the 67-year-old actor. They have three children together, and Costner has four other children from previous relationships1. They reportedly met on a golf course in the '80s and got married in Colorado in 2004. They had a prenuptial agreement and Baumgartner is not asking for spousal support.

Kevin Costner is an American actor, producer, film director, and musician who has won various awards, including two Academy Awards, three Golden Globe Awards, a Primetime Emmy Award, and two Screen Actors Guild Awards. He was born on January 18, 1955,
in Lynwood, California, the third child of Bill Costner, a ditch digger and electric line servicer, and Sharon Costner, a welfare worker. He graduated from business school at California State University, Fullerton in 1978 and began taking acting lessons after meeting actor Richard Burton on an airplane. He rose to fame with his roles in The Untouchables (1987), Bull Durham (1988), Field of Dreams (1989), and Dances with Wolves (1990), which he also produced and directed. He has also starred in many other films and TV shows, such as JFK (1991), The Bodyguard (1992), Waterworld (1995), The Postman (1997), Hatfields & McCoys (2012), and Yellowstone (2018-present).
