The Denver Nuggets are a professional basketball team based in Denver, Colorado. They compete in the National Basketball Association (NBA) as a member of the Western Conference Northwest Division.

The team was founded in 1967 as the Denver Larks, one of the charter franchises of the American Basketball Association (ABA), but changed their name to Rockets before the first season. They changed their name again to Nuggets in 1974, inspired by the original Denver Nuggets team that played in the National Basketball League (NBL) from 1948 to 1950.

The Nuggets joined the NBA in 1976 after the ABA-NBA merger and have qualified for the playoffs 26 times. They have won three division titles in the ABA (1970, 1975) and 10 in the NBA (1977, 1978, 1985, 1988, 2006, 2009, 2010, 2019, 2020, 2023). They also have a number of players who have been inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame, such as Thompson, Issel, Mutombo, and Allen Iverson.

The Nuggets play their home games at Ball Arena, which they share with the Colorado Avalanche of the National Hockey League (NHL) and the Colorado Mammoth of the National Lacrosse League (NLL). Their current head coach is Michael Malone and their general manager is Calvin Booth. Their main sponsor is Western Union.

The Nuggets are known for their high-scoring offense and fast-paced style of play. Some of their current stars include Nikola Jokić, Jamal Murray, Michael Porter Jr., and Aaron Gordon. Jokić won the NBA Most Valuable Player Award in 2021 and became the first player in franchise history to do so.
